There’s being a liar and there’s being a liar.

I personally think that my classmates owe themselves to be as good as possible when they talk to lecturers – if you can’t convince a lecturer that doesn’t bode well for your client futher on down the road.

You’re never going to win telling them the library doesn’t have the book though, that seems needlessly combative. Of course they have the book – the lecturer probably asked for the book to be purchased themselves and, because courses don’t change every year, it was probably there in the years previous too.

The only reason I could think of is if the student wants you to remember her, think she’s working on an alibi?

Sure, you’re a Jersey Girl now and that’s obviously part of who you are…but you can still be a Kansas Girl too. That’s where you’ve been…and it’s just as important. It got you where you are today…living in Jersey, in a new house, driving a new car, and (most importantly) married to a great man!
